The Energy Materials Testing Laboratory (EMTL), a division of FMI®, consists of seven separate but integrated groups specializing in the following areas:
The laboratories occupy approximately 12,000 square feet of area and are equipped with a high performance, temperature-humidity control system. The area is isolated to facilitate controlled access and preserve proprietary test information. Capabilities - EMTL's reliable testing and dependable assessments are carried out on metals, alloys, ceramics, fluid and thermal insulations, polymers, carbon and novel composites. Testing from -195°C to 2760°C (-320°F to 5000°F) is also available, as is testing in ambient, inert gas and vacuum environments. Comprehensive Facilities - EMTL's laboratories are recognized as among the most advanced and well equipped (including data acquisition and computer controlled apparatus) to handle standard and non-standard configurations ranging from micro-specimens to full-size components. The laboratories also house full resources for sample preparation, quality control and photographic documentation. Expertise - Each of the laboratory facilities is managed by senior professionals who are highly respected in their field. These managers are supported by a skilled staff whose areas of specialization include mechanical engineering, heat transfer, physics, chemistry, biology, materials science and quality assurance. Staff members are active in such national and international professional/technical organizations as ASTM, SAMPE, ISO, etc. An Emphasis on Service - Programs are tailored to meet a client's application and schedule needs at reasonable cost with rapid turnaround.
